Spelling Bee is a competition among 3-5 graders. Students are given a list of words to study on their own. They begin with winning a class spelling bee by being the student to spell the most correct words from the list. Then they move on to a school-wide spelling bee. There is a 1st and 2nd place winner chosen. The first place winner will compete city-wide unless the first place winner moves. Then the second place winner would compete. The winner of the city tournament goes on to the state and so forth. The competition is usually held in December at the school level and February for the city-wide one.
